Ol’ hip hop magazines

I’m about to sound hella dated but… waaay back before internet usage was prevalent you’d basically find out about independently released music through your friends, mixtapes (on cassette!), college radio and magazines. Oh those magazines. Budding suburbanite hip hop heads like myself would hit up the magazine sections at spots like Barnes & Noble, Blockbuster Music & Tower Records to get a glimpse of what was going on in the music world.  (Shout out to the Tower in Mountain View & Cody’s Books in Berkeley back in the day!) Most of the time we’d read them in the store then put them back on the shelf but some of those issues were just too good to pass up.  Cream of the crop below.
